Written in under a month, all of the tracks on Works & Days were done in one
take, no exceptions. In addition to the one take rule, all but
two of the songs ('Expect' and 'Don't Go') were recorded on the night
of December 29, 2001 with no overdubs or effects at all. The cover includes enlarged detail from The Birds by Bartholomaeus Anglicus (c. 1485-86). You can see tracklist art, liner notes, and a photo from this period.
